Eltham College Athletes Shine Over the Summer
Over the summer, four Eltham College athletes left a mark on the national and international stages with remarkable accomplishments across a variety of sports.
Emily, a Year 11 student, dazzled once again on the track, securing multiple medals in athletics. Notably, she won Gold in the IG 200m at the English Schools Athletic Championships for the third consecutive year and represented Team England at the SIAB International, bagging second place in both individual 200m and relay events. Her personal best of 24.20 seconds in the 200m is now the third fastest in the UK for U17s.
Hayden, from Year 9, made waves in swimming, becoming the only 13-year-old in Great Britain to qualify for five British Finals. He achieved first-place finishes in the 1500m LC Front Crawl and 200 LC Individual Medley at the English National Finals, showcasing his versatility and dominance in the pool.
Christine, another talented Year 11 student, excelled in netball. After winning a silver medal with the U17 London Pulse in the Netball Performance League, she was represented for the U19 squad for the upcoming season and has been selected into the England Netball Roses Academy trials.
Lastly, Raf, from Year 10, who made strides in hockey, is looking ahead to participating in the England U16 Hockey assessment trials after representing the Holcombe Talent Academy. His performance at the England Hockey Talent Academy Cup was phenomenal, finishing as the joint second top scorer.
These students exemplify the spirit and talent at Eltham College, and we couldn’t be more proud of their achievements.
Marc Edwards, Director of Sport at Eltham College, extends his congratulations to Emily, Christine, Hayden and Raf for their exceptional individual achievements this summer. “I am extremely excited to see them continue to flourish on the national and international stage in their chosen sports. These incredible achievements are the result of years dedicating and committing to training the length and breadth of the country often at the expense of other opportunities or activities with family and friends to ensure they pursue sporting excellence. I am confident that these accomplishments are just the beginning of their sporting careers, and we are delighted to support their ongoing development here at Eltham College.”
