Eltham College student selected for England Netball Roses Academy

We are delighted to announce that Christine from Year 11 has been named as one of 26 athletes in the country to join England Netball‘s Roses Academy 2024-25.

The Roses Academy, part of the England Netball Player Pathway, prepares athletes for high-level international competitions, which this year will include the U17 European Championships in March 2025 as well as the Netball World Youth Cup 2025, taking place in Gibraltar next September. Christine will be eligible to represent her country in the U19 team at this latter event: now just a year away, the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 will showcase the world’s top 20 teams aged 21 and under.

Christine’s selection to this elite squad, and the opportunity to play for England in these immensely prestigious international tournaments, comes on the back of her consistently excellent performances for the London Pulse U17 team in the Netball Performance League, which earned her a silver medal last year as well as the Roses Academy trial, which took place earlier this month. As part of the Roses Academy, Christine will join fellow members in regular camps at Loughborough over coming months for a development programme on and beyond court.

Laura True, Head of Netball, says: “We are extremely proud of Christine and her selection into the 2024/25 Roses Academy. Christine has been a standout player for us, last year representing Eltham College in the 1st VII as a Year 10 student, and this year leading our U16 performance squad as Captain. Christine has established herself not only as a fantastic netball player but also has become an excellent role model for our younger students; we cannot wait to see her thrive in the Roses environment. We will be supporting Christine every step of the way as she begins this exciting next step in her netball career.”
