Eltham College Archivist, Andrew Beattie, Publishes Second Children’s Book: The Angel Player

Andrew Beattie, who has worked at the school since 1992, and is now the school archivist and editor of the biannual Elthamian magazine, has recently had his second children’s book published.

The Angel Player is a historical novel for readers aged 9-12 and is set in medieval England during the dark days of the Black Death – amidst a company of travelling players, one of whom, a boy named Will, makes an extraordinary discovery one day as their cart is trundling through the Kent countryside. It will be of particular interest to young readers who enjoy history or acting.

The book (like his first) is published by Sweet Cherry Publishing and can be ordered online – though why not take the opportunity to visit the Beckenham Bookshop (on Beckenham High Street) over the half term, which has copies in stock? Mr Beattie will be speaking to groups of pupils about the book over the next term and a half, including pupils in Years 5 and 6 at the Junior School, and pupils in the Creative Writing and Reading clubs at the senior school.
