Year 10 Student Selected for England U16 Hockey Squad

We’re delighted to announce that Year 10 student Raf has been selected for the England U16 hockey squad after a rigorous selection process.

This is an incredible opportunity for Raf to take his skills to the next level and compete at a national level. As part of the England Age Group squad, Raf will benefit from a high-challenge, high-support environment with regular training days and camps. He’ll also gain valuable experience playing against top European nations, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and the Home Nations, through camps and tournaments.

The programme also offers expert guidance in areas like anti-doping, nutrition, strength and conditioning, injury management, and psychology – providing the perfect foundation for success both on and off the pitch.

Raf’s selection comes off the back of a rigorous selection process that has included a string of training camps over the past couple of months. High performance camps at Lilleshall and Bisham Abbey have given Raf a flavour of the National Age Group programme and we are excited to see his continued development in this environment.

Marc Edwards, Director of Sport says “Raf is an exceptional hockey talent and I am absolutely delighted for him on his selection into the England U16 hockey team, his determination to succeed as an international player sets him apart from his peers and I have every confidence this is the very start of his international career. As a school we are incredibly proud of his progression from first picking up a hockey stick with us in the Junior School right through to representing the school 1st XI as a Year 9 student last academic year. He is a role model for all students at the school highlighting what is possible with hard work and I know he will continue to fly the flag for Eltham College on the international hockey stage for many years to come.”

Congratulations to Raf on this exciting opportunity!
