Students on Their Way to Reaching £5000 Target in ‘5to5 for Uganda’ Challenge

On Tuesday, students took part in the ‘5to5 for Uganda’ challenge, making fantastic progress towards their £5000 fundraising target, raising almost £4000.

The challenge involved running and cycling continuously from 5am to 5pm to support two partner charities in Uganda: International Needs and the GEM Foundation.

This year, the group is focusing efforts on improving IT infrastructure at Buikwe Secondary School. With only seven computers for 900 students, the school faces a major challenge as Uganda moves towards online examinations. The students hope to part-fund the purchase of at least 30 new computers.

Funds raised will also support the GEM Foundation, a charity that provides care for orphaned and abandoned children with special needs across Uganda.

During the day, students were honoured to welcome Her Excellency Nimisha J. Madhvani, High Commissioner of Uganda, who joined them for lunch. Her visit was an inspiring moment for the group, offering valuable insight into Ugandan education and society.

Well dome to all the students that took part for their determination, teamwork and compassion. Their efforts have already made a significant impact, and donations remain open for those who wish to support their continued fundraising.  Please visit the donations website, here.
