Young Historian Awards 2024

We’re delighted to share the fantastic news from this year’s Young Historian Awards, an annual competition run by the Historical Association, open to schools across the country.

This marks our second year participating, and we’re proud to build on last year’s success with several winners in the Ancient Civilisations category. Sophie from Year 5 won 1st prize for the second consecutive year, while Sophia from Year 5, Amara and Evelyn, who were in Year 6 at the time, also received awards.

Our Year 6 pupils will now be encouraged to enter next year’s Spirit of Normandy Trust competition as part of their History studies on World War II. Primary pupils can enter several exciting categories in the Young Historian Awards, including:

  • Spirit of Normandy Trust Prize: for work on British involvement in the Second World War.
  • Primary Local History Prize: for work on local history themes.
  • Primary Ancient Civilisation Prize: for work on ancient civilisations.
  • Mid-Trent Historical Association Prize: for the best primary school history magazine.

Well done to everyone who took part!
