Sport
Co-Curricular
Our vision is to be the number one co-educational school for sport in South East London through a coherent and consistent PE and Games programme. It is the aim to provide an equitable co-curricular and Saturday sport programme for both our girls and boys from Year 3 to Year 13.
We have over 70 acres of grounds that cater for all our core and co-curricular sports, add to this a team of ambitious professional teachers and coaches with international, regional and county experience. We are incredibly fortunate to have school-club links with Old Elthamians Rugby, Cricket and Hockey as well as Telstars Netball that provide fantastic opportunities for all our pupils to access club teams based on site. Additionally, we are pleased to provide secure links into elite player pathways in the local area to promote both lifelong participation and stretch high achieving performers.
Facilities:
- 10 Rugby Pitches
- 5 Netball Courts (1 indoor court)
- 5 Tennis Courts
- 2 Hockey Astroturf Pitches
- 7 Cricket Squares plus 2 Artificial Pitches
- 8 Artificial Cricket Nets, 4 grass nets, 4 indoor nets.
- 7 Football pitches
- Multifunctional sports hall including climbing wall
- 25m 6 lane swimming pool
- College Meadow Pavilion
- London Marathon Pavilion
Through sport we hope our students can learn how to be committed, resilient and respectful no matter the result, ensuring whatever their ability they strive to succeed outside the classroom. We are proud of our sporting history but are excited about the future, aiming to consistently compete at regional and national level in all our core sports for both boys and girls.
At Eltham we provide a wide variety of activities that supplement Physical Education and Games, and we hope everyone can access a broad and balanced co-curricular programme. As a school we pride ourselves on giving everyone the opportunity to train, develop and in turn represent the school. The future for Eltham College sport is extremely bright, and it is exciting to build towards a fully co-educational school by September 2025 and the opportunities this brings to reach new sporting heights.
