Work Experience

Our Lower Sixth Form Work Experience (WEx) Programme was launched in 2019, forming a key part of our Career Learning Programme. With university and degree apprenticeship providers placing increasing emphasis on the importance of transferrable skills, meaningful WEx plays an important role in equipping young people for their life beyond Eltham College.

Traditionally the WEx Programme has involved students undertaking physical placements with employers, however the impact of Covid-19 meant that in 2020 and 2021, WEx was completely remotely.  In 2022, with the support of our incredible alumni community, parents, and other trusted partners in our network, we were able to return to the traditional model, whereby many of our students spent time in the workplace, whilst others completed remote WEx projects, assisted throughout the week by their respective employers. With organisations ranging from barristers’ chambers to architect practices, NHS Trusts to global engineering companies and publishers to investment banks, we were able to offer opportunities that meet a wide range of interests.

The feedback received from employers, providing both physical placement and remote projects, demonstrated an impressive level of commitment, creativity, and resilience among the students. We are extremely proud of the quality of their work and have showcased some examples below.
